Two children recovering after falling out of windows in central Iowa

June 25, 2013 By Matt Kelley

Two central Iowa toddlers are being treated for injuries after falling out of windows. The latest incident occurred Monday afternoon in West Des Moines.

Police say 2-year-old Jacob Greenberg fell nearly 14 feet onto a concrete driveway after somehow breaking through a screen in a second story window. The boy was flown to University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, but his condition is not being released.

A neighbor told Des Moines TV station KCCI that the toddler suffered a fractured skull and broken facial bones but no brain or spinal cord injuries.

Another young boy fell out of second story window from an apartment in Des Moines Sunday afternoon. There’s no word on the boy’s condition, but he was taken to a nearby hospital. A witness claimed the screen appeared broken, but the maintenance records for the Oakridge Apartments show there had been no reports of broken screens in the building where the boy fell.
