Two injured in Waterloo pit bull attack

August 27, 2013 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Two people were injured this morning in a pit bull attack in Waterloo. Police were first called around 7:00 A.M. on the report of a teen boy who had been attacked by three dogs while he was walking to school.

By the time officers arrived to the 800 block of Riehl Street, an elderly woman had been attacked as well. Witnesses said the dogs jumped on the woman and attacked her as she tried to push them off.

Both were taken to a Waterloo hospital. Their names have not been released, and the extent of their injuries are not known at this time. Waterloo Police shot and put down one of the dogs on the scene. Waterloo’s Animal Control took custody of the other dogs and the investigation is continuing.
