Fort Dodge child care center hit by gunfire

September 17, 2013 By Matt Kelley

A building in Fort Dodge that houses a child care center was hit by gunfire Monday. Fort Dodge Police were called to the city’s southwest side on the report of a drive-by shooting just before 12:30 p.m. Bullet holes were found in two buildings, including one that houses the Calvary Family Center.

Police were initially told a woman inside the day care, Diane Green, was shot in the back, but she was actually struck by drywall that was blown out by the shots. Green was treated and released from a hospital. No one else was injured and no one has been arrested. Witnesses told police they saw a maroon Buick leaving the area after the shots were fired.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to call Fort Dodge police at 515-573-1426.
