Pennsylvania man found guilty of hunting violations in southern Iowa

November 15, 2013 By Dar Danielson

A Mayfield, Pennsylvania man has been found guilty of illegal hunting activity in Iowa. Sixty-three-year-old Rodney Hughes was found guilty in federal court of seven counts of unlawful sale or acquiring of deer. He was also found guilty of six counts of willfully submitting false information on the licensing of deer to be transported in interstate commerce.

The charges stemmed from a hunting guide business known as Midwest U.S.A. Outfitters that Hughes operated in Cantril in southern Iowa. Evidence showed Hughes got relatives to obtain deer tags for out-of-state hunters.

Hughes faces a possible sentence of up to five years and a $250,000 fine.
