UNI starts conference play with easy win

January 2, 2014 By Radio Iowa Contributor

The University of Northern Iowa Panther men’s basketball team opened Missouri Valley Conference play Wednesday with an easy 80-46 home win over Bradley.  The Panthers were led by junior forward Seth Tuttle who scored 24 points. “Exactly the way you want to start a game. It’s not very often you get up 14-0 in a game…it was just a game where we had a lot of things going for us and we were just rolling with it,” Tuttle says.

Head coach Ben Jacobson said the Panthers played a complete game last night and it showed. He says the VCU game had been the best they had played over 40 minutes but he felt they were even sharper in this game. We played better than I thought we would tonight,” Jacobson says.

Matt Bohannon scored 16 points, and Wes Washpun added 15.

The Panthers now go on the road for their next matchup Sunday afternoon against Wichita State.
