A man from the Meskwaki Tribe was charged with murder during an appearance in federal court in Cedar Rapids Wednesday. Prosecutors say 20-year-old Jonathan Curtis Youngbear killed 17-year-old Severn Jefferson February 24th .
Reports say Youngbear stabbed Jefferson at a residence on the Meskwaki Settlment near Tama after a day of drinking and smoking meth. Youngbear is being held without bond until his next court date on Monday.
