Hawkeyes will try to stop balanced Ball State attack

September 5, 2014 By Todd Kimm

Iowa hosts a Ball State team that has won 17 of its last 19 regular season games. Hawkeye coach Kirk Ferentz says the Cardinal offense looked good in a 30-10 win over Colgate. “They want to be balanced, they’ve got good play action off their running game. Their runninggame is very productive and very strong…they make you defend them,” Ferentz says.

Ferentz says he is not sure what to expect from a Ball State defense that has several new starters. He says they look like their idea is to be aggressive and get up the field on defense with the defensive line.

Iowa has posted two lopsided wins over Ball State while Ferentz has been the head coach but he says this is a much better team.

Iowa opened with a victory over UNI.
