One man dead after wreck at intersection of two NW Iowa highways

September 23, 2014 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A man has died after a pick-up and a dump truck collided at the intersection of two highways in northwest Iowa, about 20 miles west of Storm Lake.

Apparently, a pickup driven by Fred Lukins of Holstein was traveling northbound on Highway 59. Lukins attempted to turn west onto Highway 31 when his vehicle was broadsided by a north-bound dump truck driven by Timothy Rardin of Lake View. Lukins and his passenger were transported to the Cherokee Regional Medical Center where Lukins died as a result of his injuries.

The dump truck driver was also injured in the accident, which happened at about 5:30 p.m. Monday.
