Davenport woman hit and killed on city street

October 9, 2014 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A Davenport woman has been identified as the pedestrian who was killed when she was hit by an SUV. Please say 74-year-old Fannie Mae Brown of Davenport died at scene. She was hit a little after 7 a.m. Wednesday while trying to cross a busy East River Drive.

The driver of the vehicle, an 82-year-old man from Rock Island, Illinois, received minor injuries. Police say information gathered at the scene indicates the traffic signal had just turned green for River Drive traffic when Brown stepped into the roadway. Police say the sun may have been a factor as well.
