The alarms went off at the statehouse shortly after 11 o’clock this morning.

Officials, staff and visitors in the building were told to evacuate to stairwells in the capitol, but the emergency turned out to be a badly burned bowl of macaroni and cheese in a microwave. The smell of burned mac ‘n cheese still hangs in the air.

A burned bag of microwave popcorn caused the evacuation of the State Historical Building in 2011 during a Mitt Romney campaign appearance.
