Victim’s name released in Bettendorf fatal accident

February 15, 2016 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Authorities in eastern Iowa are releasing the name of a man who was killed in a car accident last week. The single-car accident happened in the early morning hours of February 11th in Bettendorf near the city’s border with Davenport.

Twenty-two-year-old Douglas Wiegel of Bettendorf lost control of his car for an unknown reason. It went into a grassy boulevard and struck a traffic signal support pole. Police say Wiegel was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected. Firefighters pulled him out of the vehicle, but he died on the way to a hospital.
