Grinnell’s Hamilton ready for new challenge

Andy Hamilton will run the Grinnell College athletic department on a permanent basis. Hamilton was named the school’s new AD on Monday after serving on an interim basis.

The Grinnell alum has been the men’s tennis coach since 1995 and has directed the women’s tennis program since 2007.

“One thing led to another and I stayed here”, said Hamilton. ” I had great mentors who helped me develop as a young coach and great mentors who helped me develop as an administrator.”

One of his first duties will be to find his replacement as tennis coach.

“I will have to give up the coaching and most division-three athletic directors do not coach. I’m continuing as a recruiter for both programs trying to get the table set for our programs moving into the future.”
