Three Iowa schools are ranked in the latest D3baseball.com top 25. Wartburg is up one spot to 20th. The Knights are 28-8 and lead the Iowa Conference race with a 21-3 record heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

Buena Vista remains 23rd. The Beavers are 28-8 overall and sit in second in the league race with a record of 19-5, after winning 11 of their last 12 games. They will close the regular season with a four game series at Simpson College.

“After coming home from the Wartburg series I thought it was going to be tough to catch them”, said Buena Vista coach Steve Eddie. They haven’t lost many games here lately and I did not expect that but it has made us better because we cannot afford a bad game.”

Eddie says even if they can’t catch Wartburg the Beavers need to continue to win in case they need an at-large berth into the NCAA regionals.

“There is not a meaningless game so it keeps you focused on playing well each and every game.”

Grinnell College enters the poll this week at 25. The Pioneers are 26-4 overall and lead the South Division of the Midwest Conference with a 12-0 record.
