A 40-year-old Davenport man has been sentenced to 10 years in a federal prison on child pornography charges.
Philipp Johnson was convicted of sexually abusing a young girl 16 years ago. His name was on the state’s sex offender registry. In 2014, authorities got a tip that he had child porn on his cell phone. He used the phone for about a month. A “forensic examination” found nearly 500 images of child pornography on the phone.
He pled guilty to possession of child pornography early this year and was sentenced this week.
Johnson’s former girlfriend called police when she saw the man’s cell phone had been locked for visiting certain websites. Sixteen years ago, when he was 24, Johnson was sentenced to 10 years in state prison for third degree sex abuse. According to online records, the victim was a girl under the age of 13.
He’s now in the federal system, where there is no parole.
