University of Iowa reports a sexual assault on campus

September 29, 2016 By Matt Kelley

ui-logoUniversity of Iowa officials, for the first time this semester, have been notified of an alleged sexual assault on campus.

According to a U-I crime alert issued Wednesday, the victim in the case reported being assaulted over the weekend at a fraternity house by an “unknown assailant.” The fraternity is not identified in the report. The assault reportedly occurred after the victim become separated from friends at the fraternity house.

The crime alert does not identify the victim’s gender, but the alleged incident follows a report issued last week showing 1 in 5 female students who completed a survey stated they had been raped since enrolling at the University of Iowa.
