Man wanted in Keokuk woman’s murder found dead

October 4, 2016 By Dar Danielson

Crime-scene-300x243The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says the suspect in a Keokuk murder who was found dead in his basement did know the woman who was killed.

The DCI issued a news release that says 39-year-old Russell Tallman was quickly identified as the primary suspect in the death of Carrissa Rivers. Rivers was found in an alley Sunday after police received a report of shots being fired. She died at the hospital.

DCI Special Agent in Charge Rick Rahn told Radio Iowa that Rivers and Tallman did know each other, and that is why he became the primary suspect. Rahn did not know the exact nature of their relationship. An Iowa State Patrol tactical team went to Tallman’s house and found him in the basement with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Carissa River’s mother told a television station in Quincy, Illinois that she believed her daughter’s ex-boyfriend shot her. The station did not name the ex-boyfriend.
