Northern Iowa looks to snap two game skid against George Mason

The Northern Iowa Panthers look to regain their winning ways tonight when they host George Mason in the McLeod Center. The Panthers are 3-2 after back-to-back losses to seventh ranked Xavier. The Patriots are 4-3 and have won three straight.

“They are starting four guards and have shown they have got two or three guys that shoot the three point shot at a decent percentage”, said UNI coach Ben Jacobson. “They also have three or four guys that really drive the basketball.”

The Panthers must find a way to slow down George Mason’s Marquise Moore. The senior guard averages 18 points and more than nine rebounds per game.  Jacobson says the Panthers need to maintain the effort level that helped them beat Arizona State and Oklahoma at a tournament in Florida.

“Our transition defense and our rebounding have to show up every night so we give ourselves a chance.”
