A police chase in northeast Iowa ended in a head-on crash that injured an Iowa State Patrolman and a 24-year-old driver.
According to Iowa State Patrol’s accident report, 24-year-old Cory Devries of Grundy Center was being chased by law enforcement and driving the wrong way on Highway 63 near Hudson when he crashed head-on into an Iowa State Patrol SUV that had its emergency lights flashing. 45-year-old Joshua Meggers of Grundy Center was the officer behind the wheel. Meggers is also a state legislator.
Meggers was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Waterloo. Devries, the other driver, was in a 2007 Chevy sedan and was flown to Iowa City for treatment of serious injuries.
