Two sex abuse lawsuits have been filed in Fayette and Delaware against Catholic priests. A Polk County man identifying himself as “John Doe III” claims he was sexually abused several times in 1954 by now-retired priest William Goltz. Goltz was serving Sacred Heart Parish in Oelwein at the time of the alleged abuse. The civil lawsuit was filed last week against Goltz and the Archdiocese of Dubuque. Three lawsuits have been filed against Goltz, who is now living in Wisconsin. And earlier this week, a Dubuque County woman identifying herself as “Jane Doe II”, filed suit against the Archdiocese of Dubuque, claiming she was sexually abused by the Reverend Patrick McElliott when McElliot was administrator at St. Patricks in Colesburg in 1964. It is the third sexual abuse lawsuit filed against McElliott who died in 1987.
