The pre-season college football magazines are out and many forsee the IowaState Cyclones and Iowa Hawkeyes finishing at or near the bottom of theBig-12 and Big-10 standings. Cyclone coach Dan McCarney does not put muchstock into summer predictions.Senior running back Darren Davis has been getting plenty of mention as apossible All-American and conference offensive player of the year candidate.McCarney says the recognition is deserved but it will be tough for Davis tolive up to the billing.Another bright spot for Iowa State in many of the magazines is the mentionof the Cyclone recruiting class as one of the best in the Big-12.The Cyclone football season kicks off under the lights on Thursday Septembersecond.
