The University of Northern Iowa has narrowed its search for a new athleticdirector to four finalists. The finalists include Rick Hartzell, a 1974 graduate of U-N-I. Hartzell wasathletic director at Bucknell until resigning last month. The Klemme nativewas a baseball and football player will at U-N-I. Other finalists includeTim Van alstine, a senior associate athletic director at Ohio University,Bill O’Neill an associate athletic director at Southwest Missouri State andGilbert Zimmerman, the assistant athletic director at Southern Methodist.Candidate interviews begin Thursday. Officials hope to name a new athleticdirector by early next month to replace Chris Ritrevi who left to join thestaff at Michigan State.
