The state high school baseball tournament opens tomorrow in Carroll andMarshalltown. The class 1A quarterfinals are in Carroll and the opener findsthird ranked Lenox taking on an East central of MIles team that enters thetournament at 10-14. Lenox is 32-4 and at one point in the season won22-straight games. Steve Westphal says the team has come together afterhaving a number of holes to fill at the start of the season.A year ago Lenox took the top seed into the tournament, only to be upset byKingsley-Pierson in the opening round. Westphal says there is no need forhim to remind his players about that game.Westphal says last year’s first round loss is proof that records don’t meana thing.
