The President of the Iowa State Reserve Law Officers Association says thereare too few reserve officers in Iowa, leaving many cities with openings intheir police departments. Cal Thomazin of Rockwell is a reserve officerwith the Mason City police department.Thomazin says Mason City has vacancies for 10 reserve officers.Thomazin says low unemployment combined with liability concerns contributeto the low numbers of Iowans who are taking the training to become a reservepolice officer.The Iowa Reserve Law Officers Association has 750 members.
