More Iowans are employed than at any time in recent history according to areport from Iowa Workforce Development, the state agency which tracks jobdata. Well over one-and-a-half million Iowans were working in “non-farm” jobs inJuly. That’s the highest level of employment since the state began trackingjob in the “non-farm” sector of Iowa’s economy back in 1978. Sha Khan ofIowa Workforce Development says Iowa’s unemployment rate in July wastwo-point-seven percent. The jobless rate in July was one-tenth of apercent higher than in June.Khan says trends indicate there may be a slow-down among Iowa’s serviceindustries, businesses which have been fueling employment growth in Iowathis decade.
