Will George W. Bush be able to stop the “slow leak” that’s deflating his front-runner status? Drake University political science professor Dennis Goldford says that’s the big question to be answered in tonight’s G-O-P candidates debate in Des Moines. He says there is a sense of “whispering concern” among Bush backers as to whether he has the intellectual horspower to make it as president.Goldford says since the candidates can question one another, it’ll be interesting to see how far they go in mixing-it-up.Goldford isn’t sure the audience for tonight’s debate will be that large since it’s still early.Party officials estimate about 100-thousand Iowans will attend Republican Caucus meetings on January 24th, but Goldford says it’s hard to tell how many of that group will sit down and watch tonight’s debate.
