A group representing the Criminal Justice Ministries is walking from the Fort Dodge state prison to Des Moines to raise awareness of prison issues. Richard Nordin says he got involved in the walk after becoming a “pen pal” with a prisoner in Fort Madison.Nordin says Criminal Justice Ministries encourages people to get involved and write to prisoners. The walk will end in Des Moines Tuesday with a rally.The Criminal Justice Ministries helps people return to the community when they get out of prison. The walk started Wednesday in Fort Dodge.
