High winds today are raising concerns over potential brush or grass fires in parts of Iowa. Woodbury County Emergency Services Director, Gary Brown, says the ground in western Iowa is already too dry.He says the danger level is extremely high and he urges people to avoid any open burning. Brown says they’ve been lucky so far to not have any fires get away.Brown says there’s been some innitial discussion of a burning ban in the county, but he isn’t ready to push for it just yet.He says if the dry windy conditions persist, then the county may have to consider the burn ban. Brown says he’s talked with officials in surrounding counties who say the conditions there are much the same.
