A multi-million dollar fund that would create new economic opportunities for family farmers is under consideration today in a U-S Senate committee. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says his proposal would also strengthen the safety net for agricultural producers across the U-S. The 35-million dollar fund would spark the development of value-added agricultural markets for independent producers. Grassley says it’d be another much-needed boost for struggling family farmers. Grassley says farmers would directly get added income for their role in promoting and adding value to their products downstream from the farm.
