Three visitors from Russia are in Iowa City to learn how a democracy is run. Tom Baldwin is the Executive Director of the Council for International Visitors to Iowa Cities. Baldwin says the visitors are from three different Russian regions. He says they’re officials who don’t normally make such visits.Baldwin says the trip shows the Russian officials the process, and the rest is up to them.Although it’s been several years since the Soviet Union broke up, Baldwin says there’s still a desire to learn more about democracy. The Russians will be visiting Iowa through June 23rd.
