Deputy Ag Secretary Richard Rominger spoke to Iowans at the Democratic National Convention and called for major adjustments in the “Freedom to Farm Act”.Rominger says present federal law is inadequate in times of plenty.Rominger says the democratic administration has been unable to convince the republican-controlled Congress to make any changes in federal farm policy, such as land-use restrictions. Rominger and other ag-types, including Senator Tom Harkin — who’s the top democrat on the Senate Ag Committee — were honored last night at a reception in L-A’s “California Club”.
