Residents of the “Boys Town” campuses in Iowa and 13 other states voted Thursday to change the name of the institution to “Boys and Girls Town.”The home for troubled youth was founded 83 years ago and adopted the name “Boys Town” after a vote by the all-male student body in 1926. Father Val Peter is a spokesman for the organization. He says it’s great to see the kids make the right choice.Girls first joined Boys Town in 1979. The Glenwood satellite site of Boys Town began in 1989. The Boys and Girls Town headquarters is in Omaha.
