Iowa offensive lineman Ben Sobieski has been ruled out for the season and will have surgery on his shoulder. Sobieski started all 11 games in 1998 but was out all last season following shoulder surgery. He injured the other shoulder in practice prior to the season opener. Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says the shoulder pop out while Sobieski was practicing. The Hawkeyes take an 0-3 record to top ranked Nebraska this week. Ferentz says the Hawkeyes have to view the game as an opportunity. In a victory at Notre Dame, the Huskers had several breakdowns in special teams. Ferentz doubts Nebraska will make the same mistakes on Saturday. While the Iowa offensive line continues to struggle, Ferentz feels good about the players and their chances to improve. He says he’d be frustrated if the team didn’t ever have a chance of playing winning football.Ferentz says despite an 0-3 record, there is no “abandon ship” mentality amongst the players.
