Iowa’s receiving over five million dollars in federal money to build and subsidize elderly housing in Des Moines and Council Bluffs. U-S Housing and Urban Development Secretary Andrew Cuomo says the money is part of what’s called the 2-0-2 program.The bulk of the money goes to build the facilities. Cuomo says the government will then help pay the rent.Council Bluffs and Des Moines will each receive just over two million dollars to build 37 units of housing in each city. Another 450-thousand dollars will be sent to each city to subsidize rent over five years.
