Muscatine softball is used to success but even Coach Dennis Schuur admits he has been surprised by what his team has accomplished to this point. The defending state champions have won 31-straight games and had a national record streak of 160-and-two-thirds innings without allowing an earned run snapped in a doubleheader sweep of Davenport West this week.Schuur says a young pitching staff is performing well and has combined with a veteran infield to provide an outstanding defense. Schuur says limiting mistakes help keeps opponents off the board.Muscatine is 31-1 on the season and Schuur says the streak has come against some outstanding competition, including Dowling, Urbandale, Alburnett. The Muskies return to action on Friday.
