Qwest is cutting four-thousand jobs, but no word on how many Iowa jobs will be cut. Qwest spokesman Steve Hammock says some departments may be consolidated and open jobs will not be filled. Qwest operates in 14 states, including Iowa, where it recently acquired U-S West. Qwest has 800-thousand customers in Iowa.
