A northeastern Iowa school is tackling the task of raising one million pennies to help New Yorkers rebuild and recover from the attacks one week ago. The Price Laboratory School in Cedar Falls has 540 students in the nursery through grade 12. Principal John Krumbholz says everyone at the school is eager to contribute to the effort.Krumbholz says this will be a test of students’ perseverance, as it may take all year to collect that many copper coins. He says every time they reach one-hundred-thousand pennies, they’ll send off a donation. He says it’s something everyone can take part in from kindergarten students to the high school.Krumbholz says the students will decide where each of the ten donations will go — with choices like the Firefighter’s Widows and Orphans Fund, the City of New York or the American Red Cross.
