A new virus is infecting computers across Iowa and nationwide that’s similar to the “Code Red” worm that hit a few months ago. This latest bug is called “W32.minda” and it first hit many thousands of computers on Tuesday. One computer expert in northern Iowa says it’s a very vigorous virus that scans and infects networks at a very high rate. It can hit both server and user machines.Ryan Malek is in charge of security for the servers at River City Internet in Mason City. He says little is known about the origins of the virus or exactly how it strikes. Malek says if you get on a website that immediately asks if you’d like to download a file, hit “CANCEL” as the site is likely already infected.
