A train derailed last night north of Cedar Rapids in the town of Central City.About 8 p-m, at least six cars from the Chicago Central and Pacific Railroad train jumped the tracks. One car fell into the Wapsipinicon River. It was carrying vegetable oil but landed upright and didn’t leak. No injuries were reported. Another car hit a utility pole and knocked out power to 150-200 homes. Other cars dumped grain and paper products. Central City resident Donna Farrington lives near the tracks and was at home when the incident happened last night. She watched it happen from her kitchen.Cleanup is expected to take a few days. The cause of the mishap is unknown.
