A conference in Fairfield is touting the use of transcendental meditation as a way to improve the performance of school kids. The Director of the Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in Fairfield says transcendental meditation allows a student to fully use their brain. Ashley Deans says this “consciousness-based” approach is easily taught to students.The students meditate for 15 minutes, twice a day. He says the students become more alert and learn more. He says the technique is becoming more widely used, but some still balk at the idea.Deans says transcendental meditation could be used to solve a lot of society’s problems, including our current terrorism trouble.The “Higher Consciousness” approach is being showcased at a conference that began Thursday and wraps up Saturday at the Maharishi school in Fairfield.
