A couple of local elections in eastern Iowa sound like something out of Florida. The Delaware County Supervisors held a special drawing to break a tie in the race for Mayor of Delaware. Incumbent Edith Schnittjer was chosen as the winner through a drawing. Schnittjer now says she’s reluctant to accept the position. Her challenger is also unsure about the job and the city council could end up deciding the issue. The Buchanan County Supervisors canvassed the vote and changed the outcome of a city council race in Independence. The change gave the win to write-in challenger Greg Bressler over Betty Knipper. Knipper had been declared the winner on November 6th. Knipper has until 5 p.m. Friday to challenge the outcome of the election.
