An air ambulance helicopter had to make an unscheduled stop in Algona overnight.The Mercy Air Care helicopter from Mason City landed in Algona just after 11 p-m after the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit. The patient was taken by ambulance from Algona to the Mercy Health Center of North Iowa. Officials were able to fix the problem and the chopper took off a couple of hours later. No word on what caused the problem.
