Former Easter Seals of Iowa C-E-O Martha Wittkowski was formally charged today with five felony counts of first-degree theft. The county’s charging she stole or misappropriated over 230-thousand dollars from Easter Seals. Polk County Attorney John Sarcone explains Wittkowski turned herself in this morning. Bond was set at 13-thousand dollars on each count, the standard for this kind of crime. A preliminary hearing’s set for the 15th, and she could waive it, since it’ll be a witness simply testifying there’s probable cause for the charges. Wittkowski’s accused of using a credit card and her spending authority to take money from an Easter Seals account used for maintenance at the charity’s Camp Sunnyside for disabled kids. Wittkowski posted bond and was released from the Polk County jail.
