The state high school wrestling tournament resumes this morning with the quarterfinal round in class 3A. Newton’s Jeremy Meyer won last year’s 125-pound title and moved into today’s 130-pound quarterfinal round with a first period fall in round one. Meyer says there is added pressure being the defending champ as people are gunning for him.Meyer will wrestle Boone’s Jared Burma in today’s quarterfinals. He says he wants to just go and do what he does best.At 189-pounds, Waterloo West’s Akeem Carter moved to 37-0 with a convincing opening round win and is now just three victories away from a second straight title.Carter says the pressure begins to build with each round, but the motivation does too.
