A Davenport man is dead following a traffic accident Wednesday, though he may’ve been dead -before- the wreck. 65-year-old Robert Stoneburner was transported to the hospital after his car struck the side of a tavern at a central city intersection a little before 8 a.m. Police say the car crossed the center line and bounced off the curbing a couple of times before striking the building. They say witnesses report Stoneburner appeared to be slumped over the wheel prior to the impact. No one in the tavern was injured. An investigation is underway.
