The Iowa House of Representatives may have a father/son combination next year. Forty-one-year-old Representative Jamie Van Fossen of Davenport is seeking re-election, and his 61-year-old dad, James, is running for a House seat that’s nearby. Van Fossen, the younger, says his dad’s asking for advice on running in the district which includes the western edge of Davenport and Buffalo, Walcott, Blue Grass and Eldridge. James Van Fossen retired two years ago from the Davenport Police Department where he was the captain in charge of the patrol division. The younger Van Fossen says if they end up serving together, the son will have seniority over the dad, so he says he’s not worried about his dad getting elected. He says he just told his dad to vote the way he does and they’ll be okay.Van Fossen’s grandfather used to be a Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy.
