Iowa State coach Bobby Douglas called it a defining moment in wrestling. Cael Sanderson downed Jon Trenge of Lehigh 12-4 for the 197-pound national championship but the victory meant much more than just that. Sanderson’s win gave him a fourth national title and he became the first wrestler to cap his career unbeaten. Sanderson finishes with a collegiate mark of 159-0. The Cyclones Joe Heskett also won a title as Iowa State finished second to Minnesota. Iowa finished fourth.
