The U-S House is scheduled to debate a bill today that would split the Immigration and Naturalization Service into two parts. Iowa Congressman Leonard Boswell favors the bill. He says the bill could improve the situation. He says they get so many calls about the I-N-S in his office, that they have one person devoted to the issue almost full time. The bill is an outgrowth of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Boswell, a democrat from Davis City, says a new structure might help prevent some of the lapses that allowed the terrorists to operate in this country.Boswell believes the bill will pass. The bill would divide the I-N-S into an enforcement agency and an agency to handle the processing of the paperwork for people coming into the country.
