Voters in Poweshiek County have approved a countywide one-cent increase in the sales tax, to improve local schools. Matt LaCasse reports the proposal passed on a more than two-to-one margin. Only four townships in Poweshiek County voted against it. Grinnell and the two other school districts in the county will split the proceeds from the tax. Grinnell Superintendent Clem Bodensteiner says now there will be revenue for all schools in the county for the next ten years. The results from the referendum won’t be official until the county board confirms them at its meeting Monday morning.
