State officials have given a northeast Iowa group permission to lower the water level behind the Lake Delhi dam as a precaution after recent flooding. Lake Delhi Recreation Association vice president Ken DeKlotz says they’ll lower the water level six inches per day until it’s just three feet deep. They’ll be looking for submerged items, like docks or trees, that were stirred up by the recent flooding of the Maquoketa River. DeKlotz says recovered items that’re valuable will be tagged and folks can reclaim their property at the Lake Delhi marina. Lake levels will go up again on Monday once clean up’s completed.
