The group Prevent Blindness Iowa is asking you to be careful today as the highest percentage of fireworks-related injuries for children under the age of 15 are to the eyes. Spokeswoman Amy O’Brien says even legal fireworks like sparklers can be very dangerous.O’Brien says that sparklers can reach temperatures of 18-hundred to two thousand degrees when burning. She says your sight isn’t something you should take lightly.O’Brien says the best alternative is to leave the fireworks to the experts and watch only professional fireworks shows.In 2000, there were an estimated 11-thousand injuries caused by fireworks treated in United States hospital emergency rooms.
